San Bernardino County, CA, September 27, 2016 – The San Bernardino County Elections Office is celebrating National Voter Registration Day by encouraging people to register to vote today, Tuesday, September 27. National Voter Registration Day was founded in 2012 in response to over six million Americans reporting that they didn’t vote as a result of missing the registration deadline or not knowing how to register. It has now become an annual celebration, when thousands of people ensure their family, friends, and neighbors are registered to vote.
Citizens may register to vote one of two ways: online or in-person. Voters can register online at SBCountyElections. Voters may also obtain a paper voter registration application in person at city clerk offices and libraries throughout the county, or at the Elections Office on East Rialto Avenue in San Bernardino. In addition, applications are also distributed by more than 80 governmental agencies throughout San Bernardino County. Michael Scarpello, Registrar of Voters said, “We’ve expanded the number of locations where voters can obtain registration applications, improved our website so voters have easy access to this information, and assisted other governmental agencies in fulfilling their legal duty to distribute applications.”
