CalTrans has begun work on the Highway 38 repaving project, which consists of grinding the existing surface and replacing it with rubberized asphalt. The Highway 38 project, which is expected to take 30 working days, extends from Valley of the Falls Drive (which is about six miles up from the ranger station at the bottom of the hill) over a ten-mile stretch down to Linda Avenue in Mentone. Commuters should be aware that this paving project will result in delays up to 15 minutes as only one lane will be open, from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, through the duration of the Highway 38 project.
Weekday flagging also continues on Highway 18 at the Big Bear Dam, from 7am to 5pm, to accommodate the Big Bear bridge project.
