Big Bear Lake, CA, July 5, 2016 – The California Department of Transportation has awarded a $3.1 million project to STL Incorporated that will repair and replace damaged sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, including three traffic signals at various locations along State Route 18, or Big Bear Blvd., in Big Bear Lake from Pine Knot Avenue to Stanfield Cut-off.
The sidewalks, curbs, and gutters are damaged from years of snow removal and base failure. The sidewalk and traffic signals are required to be upgraded to Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Construction will be no more than 800 feet at a time and will not require tree removal.
The project will begin on Monday, July 11, with work hours Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. One lane will remain open in the work zone at all times. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes when possible.
The project is expected to be completed in fall 2016.
