Burlesque is coming to Big Bear, in a special three-night engagement at the PAC to benefit the Big Bear Hospital Foundation. “Hee Haw”’s Misty Rowe has written and choreographed a new musical, “Fandance: The Legend of Sally Rand,” which is based on her mother’s stories of the famous fan dancer, while also incorporating historical facts and music of the Big Band Era. Next weekend’s performances of “Fandance” also mark the production’s world premiere, as directed by Beth Gardner and featuring Rowe and Amber Carpenter as Sally Rand. The ensemble cast also includes Brian Adams, Kim Boda, Suzy Carpenter, Steve Cassling and John Grandi, as well as the return of local performers Robin Field and Brad Sandstrom to the Big Bear stage. “Fandance” is at the Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center on Friday and Saturday, August 7 and 8 at 7:30pm, and on Sunday, August 9 in a 1:30pm matinee. Tickets are priced at $20 and $25, and proceeds go to the Bear Valley Hospital Foundation. To purchase tickets, call the PAC box office at 866-4970, or visit the City’s website at CityBigBearLake.com. (Update: The three-night run of “Fandance” generated over $12,000 in proceeds, which will be directed to the Bear Valley Hospital Foundation. Congratulations to cast and crew for an amazing world premiere!)
