Big Bear, Ca, June 6th, 2011, 3:00pm – On June 7th the students at North Shore Elementary will be lucky to have their music and American history lessons combined into one when blues singer songwriter Brother Yusef presents a “Blues in the School” workshop. Brother Yusef, who has developed a program for young people, will be entertaining and educating 4th, 5th and 6th graders about the blues, its origins and influence on music of all genres. The Northshore presentation will showcase Yusef’s talent spanning the traditional fingerpicking style of folk blues to the stinging slide guitar work of urban blues. Brother Yusef is part of the line up for this year’s Blue’s for the Zoo that will take place on August 6th at the Swim Beach Outdoor Ampitheatre. The North Shore Elementary workshop is sponsored by the Open Sky Music Foundation, with support from Open Air Big Bear.
