Big Bear Lake, CA, December 10, 2013 – Big Bear Cycling President Craig Smith announced this week that his organization and the 2013 Tour de Big Bear will invest a combined $35,000 into local cycling projects next year. Tour de Big Bear had already committed over $50,000 in funding over the past two years.

- Scenic Bike Loop Signage Program for Big Bear Lake Loop
- Free Valley Cycling/Trails Maps for visitors and visiting cyclists
- Phase II of 300+ Mountain Trail Signs for the South Shore Trail Network
- Village Bike Racks and Bike Repair Station
- Hosting a Big Bear Time Trial for the 2014 Redlands Bicycle Classic
- Five bikes for the Big Bear Cycling Bike Scholarship Program
As the largest sporting event in Big Bear Lake and one of the leading recreational rides in Southern California, Tour de Big Bear 2013 attracted major sponsors and 1600 visiting riders. But with each rider’s entourage taken into account, the economic impact was even greater. According to numbers released by the Events Resource Office, of the 4000 visitors on event day, 91% came specifically for Tour de Big Bear, and 80+% spent at least one night in a hotel, resulting in over $400,000 being brought into the valley.
Smith said to expect 2000+ riders for Tour de Big Bear 2014, along with many more local cycling projects.
