Big Bear Lake, CA, January 24, 2013 – The scheduled speaker at the next general meeting of the Big Bear Valley Historical Society is Bill Sapp, archaeologist for the San Bernardino National Forest. Mr. Sapp will be presenting information on the recently created Forest Service Stewardship Program where individuals, families and businesses agree to monitor important historical and archaeological sites throughout the National Forest, so they can be properly preserved. Admission is free. There will be raffle items and refreshments, and all the proceeds will go to the Building and Expansion fund for the Big Bear Museum. The meeting will be held at the Discovery Center on Thursday, February 14, at 7pm. Weather permitting, the Historical Society will take a field trip the following day to better illustrate the importance of the Forest Service Stewardship Program.
