Big Bear, Ca, June 8, 2011, 1:00pm – This week talented college students from across America have been taking part in the Big Bear Lake Song Festival. In its 3rd year, the song festival brings students and high-level instructors from institutions such as the University of the Pacific, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the Boston Conservatory and even an instructor from China. The program was created by local’s Dr. Tod Fitzpatrick, and his wife Elaine Fitzpatrick. Dr. Tod is an instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and wanted to bring talented young people to Big Bear for an intense weeklong educational experience and mentoring opportunity. The Big Bear Lake Song Festival will be offering three free song recitals featuring the highly talented instructors. The first recital will be tonight and will feature four distinguished faculty artists at 7pm at the Knickerbocker Mansion. The second recital will also be at the Knickerbocker Mansion tomorrow night at 7 p.m. and will feature festival participants in a lighter evening of musical theater and operetta selections. To close the festival, the final evening recital will feature participants in a classical evening of song at the Big Bear Performing Arts Center on Saturday, June 11th at 7 p.m. For more details call the Arts Council at (909) 585-2907.
