Big Bear, Ca, September 16, 2011, 4:00pm – The Big Bear Lake International Film Festival is this weekend, and this year’s Sidebar Showcase will promote young adventure, featuring Big Bear’s own Jordan Romero, with Zac and Abby Sunderland presenting filmmaker awards. Jordan holds a world record for the youngest person ever to stand on the summit of Mt. Everest and Zac Sunderland has set two world records: one as the youngest ever to sail around the world, and the other as the first under the age of 18. Zac now speaks around the nation encouraging youth to have their own adventures, and will present his documentary, “Intrepid” at the Festival. Zac’s younger sister, Abby Sunderland also set sail around the world, but her 40-foot sailboat was completely disabled after being hit by a massive rogue wave. Abby wrote a book about her experience called “Unsinkable: A Young Woman’s Courageous Battle on the High Seas”. Abby will be at the Film Festival and available to autograph her book. She’ll also present her DVD documentary called “Wild Eyes: The Abby Sunderland Story”. The Big Bear Lake International Film Festival attracts an average of 5,000 attendees every year and will celebrate its 12th anniversary at this year’s event this weekend.
