Tomorrow, Saturday, August 29th, the Big Bear City Airport hosts the 2009 “Wings Over Big Bear” Air Fair. This year’s theme is “Serving Our Community” highlighting the value and benefits that our airport provides to Big Bear’s residents and visitors. Gates open at 7am with a pancake breakfast prepared by the Big Bear Kiwanis Club. The air show starts at 9am to 4pm beginning with a spectacular high altitude entrance by the Just In Time Skydivers and marching musical presentation by Lake Arrowhead’s Fife and Drum Corp. Some of the highlights during Saturday’s Air Fair include two World War II vintage B-25 Mitchell Bombers, a F4U corsair, a P38 Lightning, a P-51 Mustang and a P-40 Warhawk. Also, a Vietnam era Douglas A-1 Skyraider and an assortment of T-34 propeller and T-38 jet training aircraft. Entrance to the Big Bear City Airport Air Fair is only $1. In addition to exciting aircraft on display, visitors can browse food and souvenir vendors as well as community group exhibits.
