Big Bear, Ca, June 9, 2011, 9:00am –The second of the Seven Summits of Big Bear hikes will take place this Saturday, with Bertha Peak as the peak to conquer. Those looking to climb Bertha Peak are encouraged to meet at the Cougar Crest trail head on the north shore of Big Bear Lake at 8am Saturday morning. The Bertha Peak hike is 7 miles round trip, with some steep terrain as hikers approach the summit. The view is worth the work, as you will see views of Big Bear Lake, the south shore, San Gorgonio, and even Holcomb Valley. The Seven Summits of Big Bear is a seven hike series, which started Memorial Day weekend with a hike to Grey’s Peak in the Fawnskin area. The series is free, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
