Big Bear High School celebrates homecoming tomorrow, September 26, during half-time of the Bears varsity football game against San Jacinto—but, first, a pep assembly was held at Our House this morning, during which time the homecoming court for the Class of 2010 was introduced. The senior girls nominated to represent their class, one of whom will be crowed homecoming queen during the 1:30pm game, are Yuri Lopez, Stephanie Norton, Ashley Rolston, Lauren Schour, Rubi Bravo and Amber Carpenter. The theme for tomorrow night’s homecoming dance is Candyland, and as explained by BBHS student Jeff Barker during the assembly, for many fun reasons but also because, in his words, “At the home of the Bears, life is really sweet!” Homecoming weekend festivities also include this evening’s Battle of the Bands, which will be held at Big Bear High at 7pm. This event, featuring eight local bands, is open to the public and tickets are $10 at the door. As for Saturday’s football games on Minder Field at BBMS, JV takes to the field at 10:45am, and varsity kicks off at 1:30pm. BBHS reunions also take place this weekend (details of which are listed under “Big Bear Events” at right), so, to the Classes of 1989 and 1999, welcome home—and go Bears! (p.s. Monday is a late start date for BBHS students.)
