Big Bear, Ca March 27, 2011 12:00 pm – On Big Bear Boulevard, the little round building at the corner of Wren Drive stands out. Since last Fall, this has been the home of the Art Garden, a stained glass studio, shop, and classroom. Owner Jeannine Dostrow has been a professional stained glass artist for 17 years and has lived in Big Bear since 2003. When her studio was in Big Bear City, she concentrated on attending art shows and creating commissioned pieces for private homes and local businesses. The new studio allows Jeannine to offer classes. Any afternoon, visitors of any age are invited to drop in for a one to two hour workshop learning basic copper foil wrapping and soldering techniques with pre-cut glass. Once hooked, a more in-depth class where students learn to cut the glass too is offered on Wednesday nights from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The Art Garden is also a great place to find beautiful gifts, hand-made jewelry, sun catchers for any window, tools and supplies for artists who don’t want to drive down the hill to get what they need. Jeannine would like to share her love of stained glass with residents and visitors to the Big Bear Valley. Drop in to the Art Garden any day from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. The little round shop is located at 41529 Big Bear Blvd. For more information call 909-584-8768 or visit artgardenofbigbearlake.com.
