Big Bear, Ca, July 4th, 2011, 8:00pm – The 4th of July in Big Bear has become a tradition for many people over the years. The Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake has been spearheading the fireworks display for decades now, and each year the show seems to get bigger and brighter. This year the fireworks will go off on Monday, July 4th once it gets dark outside. Viewers can tune into KBHR 93.3FM and can listen to the synchronized patriotic music during the show. The fireworks are shot off from the middle of the lake from a large barge, prepared and manned by local Rotarians and a crew from Pyro Spectaculars. The show can be seen from many vantage points around the Big Bear Valley. Additional fireworks are shot off from a smaller barge on the lakefront near the Marina Resort for the enjoyment of those participating in the annual Rotary Fireworks and Dinner at the Marina Resort. Those interested in attending the Rotary event can purchase tickets at Sotheby’s, the Marina Resort, Shelli’s Hallmark, Bear City Glass, and First Mtn. Bank in the Von’s Shopping Center. As a special treat this year a Boeing C-17 Globemaster will flyover Big Bear Lake from east to west at approximately 7:40pm before the fireworks display. The Globemaster is a military aircraft flown by Air Force Reserve aircrew from the March Field. Where ever you choose to view the fireworks, enjoy the show, and remember there are absolutely no personal fireworks allowed in the San Bernardino Mountains.
