March 17, 2014 – It’s an event Big Bear’s clear skies were made for: a StarLight Festival designed to inform and entertain both kids and adults.
The AstronomyOutreach network is presenting this free, public event in the Village, from 10:00 a.m. to midnight on May 24th and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 25th.
There will be hands-on activities, an Apollo Moon Rock on display, lectures by astronauts and NASA scientistst, the latest gear–even art and music. Attendees will also get to look through telescopes and tour the Big Bear Solar Observatory.
The many exhibitors include Anti-Gravity Research, Astronomers Without Borders, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Astronomy Magazine and Let’s Make Robots.
And at the same time the StarLight Festival’s going on in the Village, the RTMC Astronomy Expo will be at YMCA Camp Oakes in Lake Williams, celebrating all aspects of amateur astronomy. Paying attendees there will not only get to look through a variety of telescopes but also to buy astronomical equipment and software, making our local mountains the place to be to celebrate the skies this Memorial Day Weekend.
