Sugarloaf, CA, November 5, 2013 – The Big Bear Sheriff’s Station is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect at large.
On Sunday evening, a 32-year-old female drove to Sugarloaf Park and parked her vehicle, then was attacked when she got out of her car. The male suspect reportedly held her against a tree while attempting to sexually assault her. During a struggle, the suspect pushed the woman to the ground and burned her face and arm with a lighter. The suspect released the victim and fled the park after the victim was able to make a call on her cell phone. She then drove herself to Bear Valley Community Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and released.
The suspect was last seen heading north from Sugarloaf Park into a wooded area toward the cemetery. Deputies searched Sugarloaf Park and the surrounding neighborhood, but were unable to locate him. He is described as being a white male adult, 25 to 35 years of age, six feet tall, between 160-170 pounds, with medium length hair and an unshaven beard. At the time of the assault, he was wearing jeans, a dark sweatshirt, and a backpack.
