Big Bear Lake, CA, February 23, 2013 – Full-time residents in the City of Big Bear Lake, take note: the Planning Commission has one immediate vacancy and two more vacancies as of June 30.
Commissioner Bob Jackowski’s election to City Council last November vacated one seat; ideally, the new appointee will serve out the remainder of Jackowski’s term, as well as a new term set to expire June 30, 2017.
The two other seats will open four months from now, when the current terms for Commissioners Paul Senft and Craig Smith expire. Senft and Smith are eligible to reapply for another four-year term.
The City of Big Bear Lake Planning Commission is a five-member body appointed by the City Council. The Commission currently meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 1:15 p.m. in Hofert Hall at the Civic Center. Commissioners must attend all regularly scheduled meetings and others the Commission may call for.
The Commission’s primary duties include preparing, adopting and maintaining a long-range comprehensive master plan for the City’s growth and development; encouraging citizen participation in the implementation of the master plan; serving as an advisory body to the City Council on matters relating to growth and development, such as General Plan Amendments, Specific Plans, and Zone Changes; and analyzing and acting on development applications, such as Conditional Use Permits, Plot Plan Reviews, Subdivisions, Condominium maps and Variances.
Besides being a full-time Big Bear Lake resident, appointees must be registered voters. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, March 29, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. The City Council will interview prospective candidates.
