Big Bear Lake, CA, December 14, 2012 – Four Big Bear High School have been selected to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York City this February. They are asking for community support to help fund their trip. They are busy preparing a local performance for the community. The date for this “Carnegie Hall Extravaganza” at the Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center is December 15 & 16.. Individuals and groups throughout our community are rehearsing and preparing their performance pieces to create a dynamite show as a congratulatory send-off for these very talented Big Bear High School students. The Carnegie Hall Honors Performance Choir consists of 200 students selected from across the United States and Canada, four of whom are from our mountain top. Each student was selected on the basis of vocal recordings submitted to The Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. There were no video presentations so they were chosen on vocal quality alone. The four Big Bear finalists, who were selected for the Honors Performance Choir in New York City are: Jodi Cline, Zackery Meyer, Tori Waner and Delaney Warren. They are all students of Diane Sloan Kubeja who is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and nominated them for this honor, The “Carnegie Hall Extravaganza” benefit concert will feature these students as well as special guest artists from our community. Some of the guest artists include Caitlin Barney, Amber Carpenter; Mike Cross; Ty Warren; Cathy Winch; The Mountain Marvelettes; Dancers Anonymous; Mountain Top Strings; Big Bear High School Men’s Madrigals; North Shore Aquila Ensemble; Big Bear Middle School’s Performance Class; Tod & Elaine Fitzpatrick, The Divas, a video clip from The Young Americans and many more. Liz Harris will be the Master of Ceremony. One of our beloved Hollywood icons, Shirley Jones, who has a home in Fawnskin, sat down with Delaney, Jodi, Tori and Zack for a personal interview which will be screened at the Extravaganza. She shared her Carnegie Hall experiences and answered questions from the students. The community is encouraged to come out and show their support by attending the Carnegie Hall Extravaganza which will take place Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16. Both performances are at 3:00pm at the Performing Arts Center in Big Bear Lake. A dessert reception in Hofert Hall will follow the performance.
