Big Bear Lake, CA, August 2, 2013 – In 2009, 200 hospital workers in Oregon put on pink gloves and danced in support of breast cancer awareness and prevention. The video garnered nearly 14 million views on YouTube® and inspired hundreds of videos across the country. This year, Bear Valley Community Hospital will compete in the Medline Pink Glove Dance Video Competition to win up to $25,000 for the breast cancer charity of their choice.
To enter the contest, the Hospital first needs to raise at least $2,000 to donate to the Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley’s Mammogram Program, which provides free mammograms to uninsured women in Big Bear. To help them raise the necessary funds, stop by their Bake Sale & Car Wash this Saturday, August 24th at 10:00 am, in the hospital’s front parking lot. Cash and check donations can also be made at the hospital on event day, or before the event day with the Hospital Auxiliary. To make an online donation and get a sneak peak of the video production, go to BVCHD.com.
All videos will be posted beginning October 25 on pinkglovedance.com, where the public can go online to vote for the video. The winners will be announced November 15.
As the nation’s largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of medical supplies, Medline created the Pink Glove Dance and has donated more than $1.2 million to fund mammograms for individuals who cannot afford them.
