Update 10:00 am, December 26, 2015 – Medic Engine 281 and assisting rescue crews attempted to rescue multiple victims inside, but were forced to pull back due to impending roof collapse. As a result there were four fatalities, 1 adult female and 3 minor children. With the assistance of the Running Springs Fire Department, San Bernardino County Fire and Cal Fire, the structure fire was knocked down at 06:23. At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Update 10:15 am – Jeff Willis Fire Chief for Big Bear Fire Department is reporting that the home was occupied by 5 people. They are now telling us that four people perished in the fire including 3 minors and one adult. The fifth adult was airlifted off the mountain to be treated for lacerations, burns and smoke inhalation. One home addition home abutting this fire caught fire displacing three residents, the Red Cross has been requested to assist this family.
Big Bear Lake, CA December 25, 2015 – An early morning fire in Big Bear Lake claims the lives of at least three. Christmas morning at 6:47am a fire was reported with Big Bear Fire department responding to the Big Bear Mobile Estates on Alden Road in Big Bear Lake. A witness at the scene told K-BEAR that there were as many as three people trapped in the burning mobile home. The same witness described other mobile homes abutting the engulfed home as catching fire as well. At this time we are waiting from official word from the Big Bear Fire Department.
