Big Bear Lake, CA, November 22, 2013 – The Animals aRe First Fund (ARFF) has donated $36,079 to the County’s Animal Care and Control Program, and local residents stand to benefit. The Big Bear Animal Shelter will use their share of the donation to provide thousands of animals with microchips at no cost to adoptive and reunited families.
Implanted microchips identify an animal’s owner by using an identification number—hopefully letting a pet avoid the trauma of being impounded at a shelter.
ARFF is a nonprofit organization whose 400+ employees contribute money each pay period to help support its charitable activities.
Brian Cronin, President of ARFF and Chief of San Bernardino County Animal Care and Control, says, “This donation is the result of our Countywide Vision in action—those in the public and private sector have worked together to aid those we serve within County. Our donors are truly the unsung heroes that help these animals in need.”
