Community Services District Directors Meet This Evening; Other Valley Activities, Meetings Canceled Due to Storm

There were two meetings scheduled for this evening, one of which is the regular first-Monday meeting of the Board of Directors for the Big Bear City Community Services District. The CSD Board should have a brief meeting in open session, which begins at 5:30pm, as the only action item is the approval of minutes of the meeting of November 16; closed session will follow, and both portions are to be held at the CSD offices at 139 E. Big Bear Boulevard. CSD’s General Manager Mike Mayer tells KBHR that the final version of the district’s Water Master Plan will hopefully be presented to the Board by the end of January 2010.
The Board of Trustees for the Bear Valley Unified School District was to meet at 5:30pm for a Board workshop at the high school gut, given the weather and the BVUSD snow day, this meeting will be rescheduled.
Other schedule changes, prompted by the snow, are as follows: The Big Bear Computer Club’s holiday party, scheduled for tomorrow, December 8 has been canceled. The computer club will next meet on January 12, for a potluck and presentation. (Questions can be directed to Yomar Cleary at 214-6990.)
This evening’s string orchestra rehearsal, for BVUSD and Steven G. Mihaylo Foundation strings students, has been postponed. Director Sharon Rizzo has asked that strings students meet on Thursday, December 10; rehearsal will be from 3 to 5pm, and still at Community Church by the Lake.
The Big Bear Library is closing early today, at 2pm, due to the weather.
The Old Miners’ Association will not be holding their monthly meeting at Boo Bears this evening; for more information, call 866-7474.
Soroptimists’ annual Holiday Auction, originally scheduled for tonight, will instead be held tomorrow, December 8. Ticketholders should plan to attend the dinner and auction at Northwoods Resort in the Village at 5pm on Tuesday.
MARTA transportation services have been suspended until further notice, per MARTA at 3:15pm December 7. Dial-a-Ride remains in service for those who had already booked appointments. Off-the-mountain service, as well as the fixed route, are unavailable until further notice.
Update: CSD has since canceled their meeting for this evening. CSD offices will be closed as of 2:30pm this afternoon.
