Long Beach, Ca April 9, 2014 – The best street race and road race festival of the year returns “The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach”. The Grand Prix of Long Beach is a special place where open wheel cars and Endurance sports cars battle it out on the narrow confines of the street track backdropped by the Shoreline Village Marina. Formula one racing at famous dockside mediterranean country Monaco may be the height of racing bling but in my mind Long Beach doles out, in greater measure, “ The Grin Factor”. You just can’t beat the best open wheel and sports car racing in America wrapped around a three day party. The almost nonstop festivities begin on Friday April 11th and finished Sunday afternoon. You can buy a ticket there or online for the weekend or any single day of your choice. But the Sunday’s Indy Race presented by Verizon is a must see. The cars are extremely fast and high speed risks are ever present, even for the worlds best at 160 miles per hour down Shoreline then around the famous Long Beach Aquarium Fountain. Last year’s horrific crash at the Grand Prix of Houston ended the career of champion Dario Franchitti sadly demonstrates the ever present nanosecond dangers. Famous teams and drivers including Power, Rahal, Andretti, Bourdais, Kanaan, Castroneves and last years winner Sato put it all on the line in Sunday’s race. So here’s my advice keep Monaco and Indianapolis on your bucket list but with the Grand Prix in our backyard “this bucket” deserves an annual kicking.
