Big Bear, Ca, February 8, 2011, 3:00pm – With his family beside him, Bob Carlson left us as he “drove his Model A” to heaven on February 4, 2011. He was born in Chico, California November 15, 1940. 36 years ago, he met the love of his life, Karen Allen and they were married in 1974. They moved to Big Bear in 1991. There he had a fulfilling life with family, friends & co-workers, Model A’s and motorcycles. He worked for Bear Valley Unified School District for 13 years. Many of the school children knew him as “Mr. Clean.” His children, Kayla and Bill consider him to be an awesome dad, he was always there for them, putting their needs ahead of his. Bob had a gruff exterior and a soft interior; everyone knew he was just a big teddy bear. ‘Big Bob’ was always available to those needing help. Survived by his wife, Karen Carlson, son, Bill Carlson, daughter, Kayla Martinez, son-in-law, Rene’ Martinez, all of Big Bear, daughters, Dana Bernard & Chrystal Carlson, granddaughter, Casondra Bernard, in-laws, Emmett & Donalee Allen. A celebration of Bob’s life will be Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 1:00 pm, at the Big Bear Elementary School. Please bring an hors d’oeuvre or dessert to share. In lieu of flower, an account has been established at Alaska Credit Union to assist the family with expenses.
