Progress continues on Highway 330, which has been closed since mid-March due to storm-prompted damages to the roadway and the culvert beneath it. The new culvert of galvanized steel was installed last week, and backfill began on Friday. The backfill portion of the project, to fill in some 80′ over the pipe for the roadway, should be completed within two weeks, per CalTrans officials, though this timeframe is weather permitting. Once backfill is complete, roadway resurfacing will take place. At this time, CalTrans tells KBHR that, rather than the original estimate of a mid-June re-opening, Highway 330 should be re-opened mid-May, and before the Amgen Tour of California, which rolls into Big Bear on May 21st.
