Big Bear Lake, CA, June 22, 2012, 3:00pm – The Department of Water and Power Board of Commissioners awarded two well-equipping contracts during their May Board Meetings. The projects will equip three wells, which were drilled previously, with pumps and facilities to incorporate them into the DWP’s water system. Equipping the three new wells will enable the DWP to meet water demands during busy holiday periods, provide for improved operational efficiency, and increase overall water supply reliability. Some of the DWP’s older wells have recently been taken out of service and these new wells will replace the older pumping plants with modern, more efficient pumping units. The 2012 Rehabilitation Pipeline Projects, currently under construction, will allow for a more reliable fire suppression system. The equipping of the three production wells will allow for enhanced water supply reliability.
