In celebration of Fire Prevention Week, each of our local fire departments will host an open house on Saturday, October 10; festivities will include hands-on activities for children, fire station tours, fire safety information, and visits by Sparky the Fire Dog (so bring your cameras). The first of the open houses will be hosted by the Big Bear City Fire Department; from 9am to noon, the Big Bear Lions Club will provide a pancake breakfast. From 10am to 2pm, the community is invited to the Big Bear Lake Fire Department for hot dogs and chips. The Fawnskin firehouse of the San Bernardino County Fire Department will be serving dessert at their open house, which runs from 2 to 5pm, and the volunteers of County Fire’s Baldwin Lake station, located at the end of Lucky Baldwin Ranch Road, welcome guests from 4 to 6pm on the 10th.
