Big Bear Lake, CA, September 28, 2012, 3pm – On Monday night at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Big Bear Lake City Council it was announced by Mayor Jahn that money was now available for the Big Bear Lake Village Renaissance project. The Mayor serves on the San Bernardino Association of Governments, better know as SANBAG, and a similar Southern California agency named SCAG, through his efforts funding is now available for the work in the village. The village project was previously scuttled by Governor Brown as part of his efforts to help rescue the states red ink budget by killing improvement agencies statewide. Mayor Jahn explained that the project must be completed by June of 2013, but that City Engineer David Lawrence believes that is attainable. In total 2.4 million will be available with an additional 1.2 million waiting in the wings if other projects are unable to meet next years deadline. Because of the looming deadline, the village renaissance project was a perfect local project, as the planning was previously completed and the project contractor Matich is prepared to begin construction as soon as the snow begins to clear in the spring.
