Running Springs, CA, July 19, 2010, 3:00pm – Highway 330 was closed for just under one hour this morning beginning at approximately 9:20am due to a vehicular accident about a half-mile below mile marker 1N09 above the City Creek Ranger Station. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Gary Fernandez, for unknown reasons, a Ford F150 pick-up truck lightly struck a Subaru causing the pick-up to lose control rolling the vehicle which landed upside down trapping the two occupants inside and blocking the roadway in both directions. The driver, Gary Bastieri, 66 years of age from Brea and his wife and passenger, Joann Bastieri were transported by ambulance to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Mr. Bastieri received lacerations to his face and injuries to his rib cage. Mrs. Bastieri broke her back in the accident. The occupants of the Subaru were uninjured. Highway 330 re-opened at 10:10am this morning.
