The Twin Peaks station of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a potential incident of arson, which resulted in a fire at the restroom facility at the little league field of the San Moritz Lodge in Crestline on Monday morning. Per the statement released by the Sheriff’s Department: “On Monday, July 13 at approximately 7:12am, members of the Crest Forest Fire Department responded to the report of a fire in the public restrooms at the San Moritz Little League field in the community of Crestline. A citizen who had been walking in the area that morning had smelled smoke coming from the restrooms. The citizen entered the restroom and noticed a pile of trash cans, paper towel dispensers and rolls of toilet paper in the middle of the restroom had been set on fire. Upon arrival of fire personnel and due to the suspicious nature of the fire, Twin Peaks deputies were requested to respond and assist. As a result of the initial investigation, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson team was advised. Damage caused by this fire has yet to be estimated. At this time, the fire is believed to have been intentionally set and is being investigated by members of the Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Division as well as Crest Forest Fire Arson Investigators.” Those with any information regarding this fire are asked to contact Deputy Diaz at the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station at 336-0600.
