Big Bear, CA, March 3, 2013 – UPDATE: Another manhunt has ended in suicide off of Highway 38, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Just after 1pm on March 2, deputies from the Yucaipa Station acted on a tip that Brian Forrett’s white Buick was parked in a highway turnout near Angelus Oaks. The deputies discovered the fugitive sitting in the driver’s seat, deceased from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
The Department’s Homicide Detail responded to investigate and found that Forrett had additional gunshot wounds to his body. These may have been sustained during the March 2 shooting in the 11900 block of 2nd Street in Yucaipa, the incident that sparked a search for Forrett’s vehicle Forrett after he fled the scene.
The incident comes less than three weeks after Christopher Dorner committed suicide during a police standoff in Seven Oaks. – Vanessa Finney
Big Bear, CA, March 2, 2013 – According to KBHR sources, suspect Brian Forrett has been found dead. No details are known at this time. Authorities had closed Highway 38 in both directions earlier this afternoon after locating the vehicle belonging to Forrett in the area of Barton Flats at approximately 1:15pm. The search for Forrett began yesterday after Yucaipa deputies responded to a report of an unwanted person and were met with gunfire. Additionally, the patrol car was rammed by the suspect who was later identified as 52-year-old Brian Forrett of Riverside. KBHR will follow the story as new information becomes available in the death of Forrett.
