Big Bear City, CA, July 26, 2012, 3:00pm – A man on parole was taken into custody by Big Bear Deputies on Tuesday. Shortly before 3pm on July 24, 2012 deputies of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station got a report of a stolen vehicle from the 400 block of East Mountain View in Big Bear City. Responding deputies received additional information that the man driving the stolen vehicle was possibly armed with a hand gun. The vehicle was as a Ford van that belongs to Bear Valley Plumbing and it had a GPS tracking system. The van was found abandoned with minor damage in an empty residential lot. Shortly after the vehicle was found, 30 year-old Daniel Greene was contacted by deputies at gun point as he was crossing Big Bear Boulevard, just east of Division Drive. He was taken into custody by Sheriff’s detectives without incident and booked into the Big Bear Jail on felony charges of grand theft auto. Greene is a State parolee on unrelated criminal charges, and a resident of Joshua Tree. He’s currently being held at West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bail with an arraignment hearing scheduled for July 26 at San Bernardino County Superior Court. The case remains under active investigation.
