On October 13, Chef Lyn Segrest of Stillwells Restaurant won the Chamber of Commerce’s chili competition with his Old Miners Day Snake Bite Chili.
Second place went to Dave Scannell aka “English Dave” of Dave Can Do It, a handyman service specializing in masonry and snow removal. Renee Wagner of The Barnstorm restaurant placed third.
Rick Herrick, Mayor of Big Bear Lake and owner of KBHR, helped served the City’s recipe, made by City Clerk Kathy Jeffries.
“A Chilly Chili Evening” was originally planned for outdoors, but since it was so cold on October 13th, the competition was moved inside to the Northwood’s Resort Ballroom. The event was co-sponsored by local investment company Edward Jones.
Chili Cookers also included RIMOFTHEWORLD.net, Azteca Grill, Grizzly Mountain Gourmet Marketplace, Sweet Basil Bistro, the Big Bear Lake Resort Association and Big Bear Computers.
