Big Bear, CA, October 24, 2016 – For all those planning to party this Halloween, be sure to stay safe and use a designated driver! Our wonderful mountain community has a great program, the Big Bear Designated Driver Program, which offers incentives for designated drivers across the mountain. The Big Bear Designated Driver Program was put in place by the Breakthrough Task Force in order to keep the roads safe for both residents and visitors. The program does not provide designated drivers but encourages people to be the designated driver for their group of friends or family.
Many wonderful businesses on the mountain participate in the program. Designated drivers who dine or shop at these businesses receive perks for committing to be the designated driver for their group. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Big Bear Designated Driver sticker in the window! The Restaurants and bars that serve alcohol give out official designated driver wristbands to the designated driver along with a discount of the establishment’s choosing such as free nonalcoholic drinks for the night, a free appetizer, half price off your meal and so on. After visiting the alcohol serving restaurant or bar, the designated driver can redeem this wristband at participating local shops and restaurants as a coupon.
The California Highway Patrol supports the designated driver program because it works and saves lives. Remember, if you choose to drink, choose a Designated Driver. For more information, call Hillary Lapham at Big Bear Prevention of Rim Family Services at (909) 366-0545.
