According to a statement issued by the Bear Valley Unified School District, students will still get their full spring break, scheduled for March 21 through April 4, despite six Snow Days taken in December and February. The Board of Trustees had requested a waiver, which has since been granted by the state, to cover Snow Days used December 16, 17 and 18 (plus December 15 for Fallsvale Elementary). The waiver for December Snow Days was granted because BVUSD was able to prove that December’s snowfall was significant, and greater than any we’d had in the Big Bear Valley in the last five years. Snow Days used on February 9, 10 and 17 will still need to be made up, however, and those make-up days will be those already on the BVUSD calendar; students will need to attend school on March 20, April 13 and May 22. In other news regarding the school district calendar, all students will have a minimum day this Thursday, March 5 to allow for teachers’ strategic planning.
