Big Bear, Ca, July 7, 2011, 4:00pm – St. Columbas Church, located on North Shore Drive is three years into a five-year plan to build a new church. According to Mary Wilson, St. Columba’s secretary, “the church is busting at the seems,” and it needs to expand its parish hall. The plan is to build an expansion at their current location, and possibly within the next year, ground could be broken for the new building. One of the ways the church is raising funds this year is through its event Hootnnanny 2. The event which takes place at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center on Saturday, July 9th, will feature live music, including sing-a-longs, and “some fabulous auction items,” said Wilson. Tickets are $25 each and include either a Rosemary Chicken or BBQ Pork. A portion of the funds from the event will go towards the new church fund.
