Big Bear, Ca, January 21, 2011, 8:00am – The 4th Annual Snowshoe the Bear is just around the corner, as it takes place on Saturday, February 5 in the Village of Big Bear Lake. Snowshoe the Bear is a great event for anyone who has ever wanted to give snowshoeing a try. There is a challenge for everyone at every level with a 5 and 10k course. “Big Bear Lake is home to Southern California’s only snowshoe race,” said Rick Bates of the Big Bear Events Resource Office. “Whether you’re a first-timer or a returning snowshoe competitor, you will want to share this experience with your family and friends.” Bates also stated that you don’t even need to own a pair of snowshoes as there are many local shops with very reasonable snowshoe rentals available. Snowshoe the Bear includes a fun festival atmosphere with live music, vendor booths, a post-race award ceremony, finisher t-shirts and plenty of great sponsor goodies for all participants.
