Big Bear Lake, Ca, October 24, 2010, 12:45pm – At approximately 1:40am on Sunday a Sheriffs Deputy was traveling west on Big Bear Blvd at a high speed with sirens sounding in response to a call in the village. According to the California Highway Patrol, a four door white vehicle pulled out in front of the Deputy’s vehicle, which caused the deputy to broadside the vehicle and then flip over. The driver and passenger of the white vehicle are from San Bernardino, and had both been drinking. The passenger was taken away with a lacerated liver; the deputy and the driver sustained no major injuries. The accident which took place in front of Denny’s caused Big Bear Blvd to remain closed between Georgia and Knight Street while the Major Accident Investigation Team worked on what happened after the cars collided. A detour by Meadow Park was created to allow traffic to flow from the east side of the valley to the west.
