San Bernardino CA, April 21, 2015 – In order to avoid litigation expenses, the County and Francis Jared Pusok have finalized a $650,000 settlement in connection with Pusok’s April 9th arrest in the High Desert. Suspect, Francis Pusok, fled in a vehicle. Deputies pursued Pusok through areas of Apple Valley then he fled on foot then followed by fleeing on a stolen horse through rugged, steep terrain. The video surrounding this arrest was described as disturbing and Sheriff John McMahon ordered an internal investigation. Pusok was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
“The incident in our High Desert last week has provoked concern among members of the Board of Supervisors” said San Bernardino County Supervisors Chairman James Ramos
According to the terms of the agreement, unanimously approved by the Board of Supervisors in closed session and by Pusok and his attorney, the County acknowledges no wrongdoing. The agreement settles all potential claims from Pusok that could stem from the April 9 incident.
“The sole purpose of this agreement for both parties is to avoid the costs involved in litigation,” said County Supervisors Chairman James Ramos. “This agreement is a fair outcome for everyone involved, including the taxpayers.”
