Eleven families and individuals have made donations to the award-winning strings program of the Bear Valley Unified School District and these contributions, as well as a $500 donation from the Senior Center to the Big Bear High School Jazz Band, will be accepted during this evening’s meeting of the school district’s Board of Trustees. The meeting will begin in closed session at the school district offices at 5:15pm, and open session is scheduled to start at 7pm in the Big Bear High School Media Center. The agenda also includes a presentation by BBHS Principal Michael Ghelber, and the acceptance of letters of retirement from five certificated employees. The Board of Trustees is also scheduled to, come Friday afternoon, attend Brown Act training. In other BVUSD news, tomorrow, May 7, was originally calendared as a minimum day to allow for teachers’ strategic planning but will instead be a full school day at all BVUSD school sites. The next minimum day is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, which will be followed by a snow makeup day on Friday, May 22.
