Big Bear, Ca, August 3, 2011, 12:00pm – This Saturday boaters have the opportunity to learn or brush up on their safe boating practices. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Big Bear Lake Flotilla 11-12 presents a safe boating course each summer. According to the auxiliary, the one day class teaches proper boat handling, local hazards, navigation rules, boating laws, safety equipment, boating problems, personal watercraft safety, trailering and more! The cost is $40, and each student is provided with a class textbook, handouts and 8 hours of class instruction time. Participants will also receive a nationally recognized lifetime certificate of completion upon successful completion of this course. According to the Auxiliary many insurance carriers offer a discount to certificate holders. The safe boating class will take place this Saturday from 8am to 5pm at the Big Bear MWD meeting room at 40524 Lakeview Drive. To sign up call Mark at 909 725-0447.
