The Lighthouse Project has been hard at work to fast-track the logistics for the Run the Bear Marathon, which will bring an anticipated 2,000 runners and cyclists to Big Bear Lake on September 12. As proposed, Run the Bear will run around the lake, and will also include city streets including Pine Knot Avenue, Stanfield Cutoff, Sandalwood Drive, Park Avenue and Knight Avenue, and other residential streets in the Eagle Point area. Before the event is a go, however, it will first be reviewed by the Planning Commission of Big Bear Lake, which will meet for their regular meeting on Wednesday, though at a special 9am start time. Tomorrow’s meeting of the Planning Commission, to be held in Hofert Hall, will also include consideration of another special event; the Big Bear Believer’s Chapel has submitted a proposal to hold a two-week church gathering, billed as the 2009 Big Bear Camp Meeting, at Snow Play in the latter part of July. Tomorrow’s meeting of the Plannning Commission is open to the public and, again, begins at a special 9am start time.
