Big Bear, Ca, May 11, 2011, 3:00pm – The Rotary Interact Club at Big Bear High School is preparing care packages for troops who are serving overseas. The club is collecting items through Memorial Day weekend to prepare these packages as a way of honoring and memorializing our fallen troops. According to the Rotary Club, cash donations to buy items and offset postage are welcome, and anyone wishing to donate items may drop them off at the following three locations in the valley: Riffenburgh Lumber, Stone and Youngberg, and the Paper Clip. The Rotary Club asks that you please bring any food or personal hygiene items in their original packaging. Each of the drop-off locations will gladly accept any quantity of items you may wish to donate. All of the items will be packaged for individual troops or groups of troops stationed overseas. The Interact Club members will assemble them after the Memorial Day weekend. The Big Bear Interact Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake and currently includes approximately 50 members who are students at Big Bear High School. The club meets twice each month and raises all of it own funds which is approximately $10,500 each year.
