Big Bear, CA, September 23, 2016 – The California Department of Transportation District 8 is set to begin the paving project on State Route 18 on Monday, September 26. The $2.3 million contract was awarded to All American Asphalt and will provide a pavement overlay from Running Springs to just south of Lake View Point.
The work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with no work on Fridays. Traffic control, or flagging, will be necessary during the work hours.
Motorists driving to Big Bear are advised to use State Route 38 to avoid this project, the three projects on SR 330 below Running Springs, and the upcoming daytime closures on SR 18 in the Arctic Circle beginning October 3.
The contractor hopes to complete the SR 18 paving project by the end of October 2016, however this schedule may be affected by inclement weather and/or material acceptance standards.
