The Rim Nordic Mountain Bike Series Finale took place this past weekend, with many locals taking the overall top spots. The Rim Nordic series consists of four different cross-country and super d races that started in late June. After a beautiful day of racing on Sunday August 21st, Romolo Forcino of team Chains Required took the series overall win for the pro men, and team Bear Valley Bikes took the team overall win. Team Sho-Air took the 2nd place team spot followed by Team Chains Required, who took 3rd. Local Pro Team Steven K Sports Pro Team took two of the top spots in the pro overall’s with Vincent Lombardi taking 2nd place, and Steve Kinney taking 5th overall. Bear Valley Bikes owner Derek Hermon took 3rd place in the pro overall, and local Allan Laframboise of Don’s Bikes took 4th overall. Local women were on the podium as well, with Ronda Warden, Alison Hyde, Louise Boyer, and Elle Williams winning their division overall for team Bear Valley Bikes, and Sarah Alvarado won her division overall for team Chains Required. Overall, all the participants had big smiles on their faces, and thanked the Rim Nordic staff and volunteers for all their hard work and effort this season. On September 17th and 18th, Rim Nordic will hold the Autumn Cup – with their first ever downhill race, along with a super d race on Saturday the 17th, and a cross country race on the 18th.
