Big Bear Lake, Ca May 14, 2011 12:00 pm – This weekend, Big Bear’s upscale vintage clothing and collectibles store, R&R Rant and Rave reopens in a new location, remade and renewed. Last year, owner Sally Sherlock thought Rant and Rave would be a weekend summer-only store, open from May until November. The idea grew out of Sally’s work helping people clear their homes of clutter. Instead of throwing away good quality items, she opened the store and offered collectibles, jewelry, and almost new clothing for resale. Broken and chipped nicknacks and dishes, Sally used in her pique assiett pieces, and she held classes in this mosaic art form at the store. After a successful season, Sally was often asked when she would be opening again. This spring she found a good location next to the Triangle Market on Moonridge Road and decided to open year-round, expanding the art classes. This year classes include drawing and painting, art quilting, beaded jewelry, embroidery, and remade clothing. R&R Rant and Rave is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays, 11 am to 7 pm, and Sundays 12 to 4. The store opens this weekend with a good supply of vintage jewelry, cast iron furniture, aloha shirts, light jackets, and flannel shirts. “Not everything is vintage” says Sally, “but everything is very cute.”
