If you’re a homeowner, you probably know what Thursday brings… Property taxes are due to San Bernardino County before midnight on December 10. Payments can be made online at MyTaxCollector.com, 24/7, while property tax payments are also accepted by telephone, via mail, or in person (using cash, check or money order) at 172 W. Third Street in San Bernardino (weekdays, 8am to 5pm). The first installment of property taxes is considered delinquent if not paid by midnight on December 10, thereby incurring a 10 percent penalty. According to the County’s Assistant Treasurer-Tax Collector Annette Kerber, “This continues to be a very difficult year for many homeowners. We encourage property owners to do what they can to make their payments before the end of the day on December 10 to prevent incurring penalties.” Over-the-phone payments can be made using a checking or bank account free of charge, or using Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards, which will include a fee; either way, phone payments to the tax collector can be made by calling 909/387-8308. Adds Kerber, “Property taxes are crucial during times of economic uncertainty. They ensure funding for key public services that enhance the quality of life for our residents.”
