It was a year ago this week that KBHR Radio/Parallel Broadcasting launched our new, improved website, accessible at kbhr933.com and BigBearNews.com. Since the unveiling of our new site in March 2009, we have added many new features, some of them at the suggestion of you, our audience. In order to help you make the most of your visit, here are some tips and suggestions on how to navigate.
News stories are accessible by clicking on the red box at the top of the right column titled “Catch up on all your Big Bear News here.” You can also search for stories by clicking on tabs in the right column; stories are listed by month, as well as by category (such as “Government,” “Snow/Weather,” “San Bernardino National Forest”) or author.
Some stories also have a Related Links tab at the bottom; for instance, if you click on a tab such as “biking,” you can access all stories that reference cycling, the bike trails foundation or the Amgen Tour of California. Other Related Links tabs include “City Council,” “Big Bear High School,” “Ryan Hall” and “Big Bear History.”
If you cannot find what you are looking for using these suggestions, you can also use the search bar (the white bar atop the right column, with the “Go” next to it) to type in key words, such as “MOM Project,” “Superintendent Nancy Wright” or “snowshoe.” (Stories posted in 2008 or 2007 will not come up during this search; you can do a Ctrl F find for specifics once in the archives.)
Stories posted prior to our March 2009 launch are available in the KBHR News Archives, which include 2007, 2008, the Butler #2 Fire, and the Slide and Grass Valley Fires. You can get to these via the Big Bear News tab at the top left of our website.
For information on Big Bear Events, click on a specific date in the calendar posted in the right side bar; you can also use the drop-down on Big Bear Articles by Topic, and select “Big Bear Events.” We also have a current venues listing; this is available using the tab at top that reads Music & Events.
“Big Bear Photos” is another topic-specific category, which will take you to a collection of lead photos used on kbhr933.com/BigBearNews.com. For specifics on the photo, roll your mouse over the picture to reveal the name. If there’s a photo you’d like to save from this collection or from within one of our posted stories, simply right click on the photo and you should be able to save it to your computer.
For up-to-date information on road conditions, visit the Big Bear Road Conditions page, using the Big Bear Weather & Roads pull-down at the top of the website. Our roads page is updated when new information becomes available, just as soon as we announce those changes on the air at 93.3 FM.
You can also listen to us, streaming live, even when you are not in the Big Bear Valley. At the very top right of the website, just click on KBHR Live Radio—and enjoy!
We hope you will find this information helpful, and we thank you for visiting the KBHR website, the daily source of news and information for the Big Bear Valley.
