The recycling facility proposed by Big Bear Disposal will go before the Planning Commission of San Bernardino County this week, as the 8,000 square foot building would be constructed in Bear City (between the airport and Highway 38, from Mound to the west and Holden Avenue to the east) on industrial-zoned property within the County’s jurisdiction. Per the County, any person affected by this application, which also includes provisions for additional buildings on the 5.56 acres, may submit their concerns in writing prior to the hearing or appear in person during the Planning Commission hearing, to be held at 9am on Thursday in the San Bernardino County Government Center, located at 385 North Arrowhead Avenue in San Bernardino. The proposed recycling facility, prompted by state and county mandates, would service the entire Valley; no hazardous waste collection would be done at the site, though would provide an indoor sorting facility for residential and commercial recyclables picked up by both Big Bear Disposal and the Big Bear City Community Services District.
For background on the project, KBHR News stories were posted on March 2 and March 20.
