Children in the Erwin Lake area have been without playground equipment in the neighborhood park since September but, as of today, it’s playtime at the Erwin Lake Park. The Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District had removed existing equipment to allow for the installation of new ADA-approved features, including swings and a slide, which, as of today, are installed and ready for use at the park, which is located at 1140 Hatchery Drive, accessible from Highway 38 or State Lane. The Park District’s Regional Manager Reese Troublefield noted that district staff did an outstanding job on the install and, as noted earlier, the previously used equipment will be reinstalled at another park location. Though originally intended for the Big Bear City Park, which was re-opened to the public on September 19, the playground equipment will instead be installed at The Ranch Sports Complex, also located in Erwin Lake.
